5. Leafy greens
Leafy greens, despite what many kids think of it, can actually be pretty tasty in combination with a few other food items as it helps to bring out the flavour as well as imparts a distinct taste. In fact, many of us actually have it by itself too, because with the right dressing, it can be quite a treat. Leafy greens like spinach can also help in reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as many studies have shown. It is also a rich source of antioxidants, especially when cooked lightly or served raw. It has a host of nutrients as well, which includes vitamins A, C, E and K, and minerals like selenium, niacin, zinc, phosphorus, copper, folic acid, potassium, calcium, manganese, betaine and iron.
